Niels has 10 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry working with fixed and floating offshore structures. In his PhD studies, Niels used artificial neural networks to predict the nonlinear dynamic response of mooring lines and thereby reduced simulation time by two orders of magnitude. Recently, he has developed a tool for estimation of the force flow through tubular steel joints on offshore jacket structures. He is currently working on multiple machine learning applications for the offshore industry, e.g. tools for real-time structural health monitoring, soil condition analysis and pipeline design assistance. Niels holds a MSc and a PhD from Technical University of Denmark.
